The Origin Story
Ron Passaro and Derek Gregor met while earning their Master's degrees in NYU Tisch's Graduate Musical Theatre Writing Program. Although both built careers as composers, they stayed close friends long after graduation, bonded by a love of New York City and a shared belief that too many everyday things have become unnecessarily expensive and unnecessarily complicated.
That mindset led to CheapNewYork.nyc.
No corporate buzzwords. No "disrupting the marketplace." Just a simple idea: New Yorkers deserve an easier way to find quality secondhand items at prices that actually make sense. Cheap New York is about cutting through the friction, keeping great stuff in circulation, and making the whole experience straightforward, affordable, and stress-free. Because living in New York is already hard enough. You shouldn't have to jump through hoops just to score a great deal.
